Yoga & Stretch

Happy October! New month, new start. I joined a yoga studio in my neighborhood, a lapse for 2 years and 1st time to try different types of yogas (beyond gym class). It’s no surprise how I feel my muscle, tight or shaking sometimes yet ‘breath’ during movement and stay ‘present’ are more difficult. Mind kept wondering off, thinking about work and to-do…it finally hit home when the teacher said in the end to allow ourselves a few minutes to do ‘nothing’. For a naturally high energy and curious person like me, ‘blank’ is a learning progress.

7/21-8/20, I started the ‘try new, do different’ monthly exercise and September I changed to ‘get to know 3 new people each week’. I had fun with both. For October, I decided to ‘stretch daily’, do something even if I feel uneasy, unsure, or even scared. It’s like exercising mental muscle, the more I stretch, the more I expand comfort zone and get stronger. 

Stretch and yoga are interesting contrast and combo: push and pull, hard and soft, mental and physical, I’m excited to do both in October.
