We went lunch with uncles and aunt. Uncle used to be a physician. After an accident, he lost strength of his hands. He wasn’t eager to go to physical therapy. Mom accompanied him everyday for several months in the height of covid without vaccination (not enough doses for general public yet). Mom asked the physical therapist where they could buy those items that uncle could practice at home. The physical therapist said they are not sold to the public yet they could use a clip (open ‘n close) to strengthen the finger muscle and make circle on the table with a small plastic bottle of water to strengthen the arm muscle, yet uncle wasn’t keen to practice at home.
Recovery is not easy and I understand the frustration, especially thinking of ‘before’ yet it is possible. It has taken me 5 months to regain strength of one hand (due to a pulled nerve). We’ve seen people, in spite of medical estimate, outlived or made miracles. Self motivation, care, and discipline make things happen and before others could support you.
Best wish to uncle and all who is living, fighting bravely with hope!
