My roommate and I craved for dumplings. Instead of going out or buying frozen ones, we decided to make ourselves from scratch (with flour, leek, egg, green bean noodle). She is confident of her rolling skill and I’m proud of my craft of dumpling making, learned from dad when growing up. It’s my 1st time to make vegetarian dumplings and 2nd time to prepare from scratch (last time was in Finland with a bunch of international students 15+ years ago). We were both excited and teamed up: She created the wraps then I made dumplings.
We had a lot of ingredients left without wrappers. We decided to make leek pockets. Neither of us had done before yet loved the food. I’m not sure how to ‘close’ the pocket, pressing the edge will be the easiest but the pocket looked flat and ‘boring’. I decided to make it a ‘craft’ project by closing each pocket differently, see 2 examples in the picture (1 spiky and the other folding between the wrap instead of twisting on 1 side). We were tired after almost 4 hours of works yet proud to enjoy our delicious creations. It was fun making, both friends and food 🙂
