My manager and I had a meeting with the group president to confirm I’d be the product lead of a high priority project. I started right away to put together the vision, scope, and requirements, consolidate prior works, and gather team inputs. A few days later, I was told the project would be led by a new VP.
It’s disappointed to hear the news yet the goal is beyond feeling and individual. I want to provide a good transition to enable team success and build upon prior works. A day later, I thought about it again, it would be even better to collaborate forward than a good hand-off. We can focus on different areas and create a platform that will support multi-types of workers/ works and across the user journey.
I’ve learned from this experience to (1) not let feeling drive our doing/ thinking, (2) see beyond ourselves, (3) pause, better ideas come when we’re objective. Things don’t always go as we wish yet we control how we feel and what we do. Find bright spots and productive ways forward.
