A few weeks ago, I asked aunt if she knows people in CO that I can stay for a few weeks. I like outdoor and due to remote work, why not take advantage? I didn’t hear back, neither thought much of it. When I saw aunt, she mentioned a relative in CO said yes, she texted me but didn’t hear back. What? I didn’t get that message.
I plan to go home in 3 weeks, shall I move again? Yet who knows if we’ll continue remote work next year, here is the opportunity…I booked the flight.
Mindy* and Charlie* picked me up from the airport and brought me home. I stayed in the room of their son who moved out recently. Mindy loves to cook and bake. Lucky me to enjoy and help make food from around the world, e.g. Vietnam beef noodle, blueberry cheese cake, roasted turkey, Chinese manto, etc. There is a large Vietnam community in Denver, hence authentic restaurants, I loved making my own spring roll with sugarcane shrimp, rice noodle, and various veggie. I went hiking with Mindy and Charlie on the weekend and ski (haven’t done for ages) during thanksgiving holiday. Due to Covid, MIT healthcare hackathon went virtual so I could participate and collaborate with people from around the world. Ironically (luckily for me), due to increased infection rate, CO government encouraged all adults to take the booster shot after 6 months of 2nd shot. I got mine, perfect timing, 2 weeks before my next travel for the vaccination to be effective.
Looking back, Chinese idiom said it well “天時,地利,人和” good timing, place, and people…thanks to Mindy, Charlie and family’s hospitality, thanks to aunt’s arrangement, even Covid, thanks for the location-free opportunity.
