Beijing is the 1st city in the world to host summer and Winter Olympics. Opening ceremony countdown started from 24 instead of 10 and I learned that it’s not only 24th Winter Olympics but also there are 24 solar terms in Chinese calendar. Quite a difference for the opening ceremony, 2008 showed in volume, performances by thousands of people vs. 2022 presents in technology. It’s partially due to Covid, partially with the change of China, 2008 as intro to the world, 14 years later, it’s a world super power. I remember watching the 2008 opening on the street of Beijing as well as witnessing the pride and joy of people. I hope the optimism continues.
I watched female Snowboard slopestyle competition, what’s incredible is beyond Zoi Sadowski-Synnott’s amazing jump and she made history to win the 1st ever gold for New Zealand. When her score showed up, the 2nd and 3rd place players ran over to congratulate her, followed by all snowboarders, they formed a circle jumping, hugging each other, and celebrating the progress of the sport. That’s Olympics spirit – Celebrate success and progress, continue raising the bar!
