萍水相逢 Meet by Fate

In the 2 weeks trip in Portugal, we had several fun and memorable encounters, E.g.

To me, the best way to learn a culture is through the local. A friend’s son living in Porto not only showed my friend and I around but also gave us food, restaurant, and music suggestions. We had great fun together and met twice for dinners. His girlfriend is from Greece, who knows we may see each other again there.

In a winery tour, we sat next to a Canadian couple in wine tasting and clicked right away. We chatted about culture customs, travel, business, etc. and exchanged contacts welcoming each other’s visits.

We bumped into 2 ladies, in our parents’ age, on a castle. I helped taking picture for them. The next day we saw each other by the ocean in another town. We chatted and learned that they’re retired teachers and good friends who live in NJ and CA. They heard that I twisted my leg. One of them said she has extra patches to help relieve the pain and shallowness. She offered them to me if we want to pick them up from their hotel before their checkout tomorrow noon and we did. Those pads helped me for the rest of trip.

There is a Chinese proverb: 十年修得同船渡Ten years of hard work to get on the same boat. I appreciate and enjoy the new friendship, stories, and experiences. I wish all of them and their families a happy, healthy, and fulfilled life.
