My boss and I spent several weeks tweaking the BI model and examining the data then tried multiple times explaining the model/ goal of pilots to team. We got lots of questions (and tension), a mix of trying to understand, worrying of the change, and being suspicious…Later we saw a demo of another BI model (created by team whose lead was critical on our model) which received high praises (from a leader who questioned the legit of our model) and it’s very similar to what we did…
Putting feeling and whose credits aside, what matters more is that the tool adds values to team and through pilots, we can test the hypotheses, see how the parameters affect the results, and learn/ adjust for system enhancement. My boss and I decided to shift focus from modeling (& convincing people) to support ONE team success in change management.
