I wanted to something different for the President’s day long weekend so I looked up meetup. I found a Pot lot game, food + game sounds fun so I signed up.
I stand in front of a big house, dark and quiet outside and I can’t find the #, neither a doorbell. Am I at the right place? I called the host, no answer and I left a voicemail. I tried the neighbor, nobody was home but a dog barking at the window. Oh no…I waited a few more minutes and called again, thankfully, the host picked up…Yes!
When I walked upstairs, it’s a different world…warm, beautiful décor with yummy food smell, 4-5 smiley people are playing cards at the table and 2-3 people are chatting/ eating at the kitchen. I easily jumped in. I play ‘food and chat’ game well J. I can’t name most of the food yet they’re all delicious, colorful, and creative, e.g. a French upside down tart (?), veggie wrap on top of roasted tomato chicken shell pasta (by a Korean older gentleman), an Asian Mediterranean fusion (?) of tofu veggie couscous, etc. WoW, we have some serious chefs and gamers here!
I learned throughout the evening, people are physics PhD, life science PM, mathematician, playwright writer, system engineer, techy chemist…what a group of ‘crouching tigers, hidden dragons’! No wonder we played great games tonight. Everybody was friendly and it was fun to play, learn, and think at the same time. As I wrote to the question: What’s my favorite game? when joining the group – to me, what makes game fun is the people I play with vs. particular game…Tonight, I’ve met an exceptional group and I’d love to come back, thanks H for hosting~
