I’m reading Peak Performance (book) and the message of ‘Stress + Rest = Progress’ resonates with me. Many book/ people talk about stretching ourselves, being disciplined, and taking actions which is critical to success. Yet the combination of taking a break, relaxing, and giving ourselves a pat on the back is even more important, especially for people who are highly talented, ambitious, and curious so we don’t get hurt, burn out, or go crazy. It’s similar to Chinese saying ‘rest to go far’ (休息是為了走更長遠的路) or in yoga, teachers often encourage us to do what we feel ‘right’ at the moment and listen to our body; in shavasana, allow us to rest, do/ think nothing. To me, it’s harder to slow down than speeding up. I’m continuing the mind and body practices and making progress~ J
