I planned to attend the social enterprise conference at Harvard, due to the covid-19, the event was cancelled at the last minute. I was surprised yet glad to have the extra time to do class/ homework and enjoy a special Women’s Day…
My roommate and I planned to have a farewell lunch with the departing roommate family yet I didn’t see anybody around noon so I decided a plan B: I’ll go take a walk to the restaurant, get a takeout to have a ‘picnic’ at a nearby river park then bring food back for the roommates. It worked out perfectly, I enjoyed the sunshine, quiet moment at the park, and exercise while roommates enjoyed food and did whatever they were doing (or sleeping).
I went to Y, a friend’s book launch party. I met her a few months ago at a writing retreat and I’m thrilled to see her dream comes true. Plus I tried Sri Lankan food for the 1st time, chatted with lovely people, and enjoyed learning the stories and culture. It’s a triple celebration of Y’s birthday, book launch, and international women’s day. Interesting timing – I’m reading Reading Lolita in Tehran and Y’s book is a memoir of growing up as a Muslim woman. 2 Muslim women’s stories, different culture and time yet both represent the talent, hope, and resiliency of women around the world~
