I like to try new food and restaurants. I called a Nepali Indian restaurant to order lunch. I haven’t had Nepali food and the staff recommended chicken or vegetable chowmei (isn’t it Chinese?). He explained it’s Nepali style. Ok, I’ll give it a try.
I went to Spot Café to pick up Miche bread*. While waiting for the bread to be sliced, I chatted with the young man at t the counter. I was surprised to learn that though the cafe serves mostly Italian American food, the family are from Egypt, and the dough is from Canada, a global collaboration in one loaf!
I enjoyed the Nepali chowmei (& like the bright color) at the park while watching a family playing baseball. Then I biked to aunt’s home to drop off the bread. She gave me 2 slices of sticky rice cakes from HMart (Korean grocery store). One is made with nuts and the other has 3 layers. I don’t know if they’re Korean style or a fusion. Either way, I enjoyed the cakes with a Columbian coffee after returning home.
What a treat! An easy access to global food, culture…A simply joy without needing a plane ticket or big wallet when we’re open to explore, listen, and give~
