I met Richa and Mian at the last company. Richa and I saw each other in some group meetings. Mian recently joined the company and we were introduced by her manager who was a key partner of the Global-localization initiative I was leading. We hit it off.
A month after Mian and I met, the company restructure removed my role. I saw Richa on my way to the garage after receiving the surprising news. I didn’t say anything. Soon I got a text from Richa after she heard the news. She invited me to her apartment for dinner. We chatted while watching her making roti and cauliflower rice (first try and I loved it). When she heard I was contemplating moving out of state and looking for a temporary home, she asked a friend who has a fully finished basement if I could stay here.
Mian also reached out; along with Richa and a few colleagues, they invited me for lunch and insisted treating me. We chatted and laughed over Chinese food. Mian
, Richa, and I met for lunch a few months later again. Mian gave me a brown bag. Inside, there was a little book/ journal called the joy of now.
Mian and Richa wrote…
Carpe diem! Hope this mindfulness book put a smile on your face. May it remind you to just breathe and to never let your joie de vivre. Maraming Salamat, Kaibigan!
Discipline is the bridge between good & accomplishments and you have that. Go for your dream & fly high!
They put a smile (& tears) on my face…
I took the 5 minutes daily exercise and started “observing and appreciating” more of the color, scent, and lives as well as the love, joy, and possibility around me. The little book has lightened up my world through the transition. Since then I’ve repeated the exercises 3 times and gave more than 10 copies to friends and family. I hope they also enjoy the joy of now.
The transition wasn’t easy and it took longer than expected yet I treasured the experience; I’ve grown stronger, wiser, and happier…salamat/ धन्यवाद् , Mian & Richa!
