Happy Mother’s Day

Last year I spent Mother’s Day with my Costa Rica family. We had a picnic at a son’s front yard, I helped plant 3 mango trees there; then “mama” and I headed to family’s 2nd home, a place I love in the mountain area. We enjoyed yucca, chorizo, tortilla on the stone bar with “papa” and some friends. Una experencia nueva y bonita (a new and beautiful experience)!

This year I spent Mother’s Day with aunt’s best friend (aunt was away). I wanted to take her out yet she had family plan so I brought her breakfast. I received a surprise “goodie bag” with tea eggs she made, cookie, and 2 other things that she said were on-sale, too good to resist. She also invited me to a cooking class that I learned to make 餡餅 (see image, she called it “Chinese hamburger”) first time in my life, along with 4 kids. 餡餅 is crispy outside and soft inside with beef, carrot, onion…2 quickly rolled into my belly J another new and beautiful experience!

My mom is not around me yet I’m fortunately to spend time with 2 wonderful moms, sharing food, love, and care for others/ each other…they’re the spirit of mom!
