I went out to run a few errands…felt like a coffee in a misty gray day. I walked to a local bookstore at a popular square. I asked if they have decaf, the lady said not now yet if I want to wait for a few minutes, they could make me one, great!
I brought coffee out; all tables outside were empty (in summer, always full). I decided to sit a bit instead of going home. As I was sipping coffee and glancing around, an older gentleman passed by and said “it’s still good for January” to me before entering a store. I paused for a second, yes, he is right…
It’s still good for January, though the thermoset outside my window showed 34F (slightly above freezing), it didn’t feel cold out. The misty rain softened, calmed a normally bustling square.
It’s still good for January, while book chain went bankruptcy, this local bookstore had non-stop people in ‘n out; 4 ladies were behind me by the window: a young lady was reading a book, another seemed doing homework, a middle-age woman working on her laptop, next to her an older lady enjoying a cream cheese bagel…a beautiful celebration of diversity, across generation, race, and walk of life.
It’s still good for January, for $3.50, I made a small contribution to a local business and received an unusual moment to take a break, not to think or plan anything but simply embrace what’s around me.

The warmth of sunset and breeze feels good and that is pleasure, but the experience of having taken the time to create the opportunity to enjoy the sunset and warm breeze with other people and having a long-lasting memory, that is enjoyment….by Yan M**
Indeed wish all of us notice and appreciate the pleasure and enjoyment in 2023!
