Do Less and Slower

A friend and I chatted about the books. I remember the book title and knew I had read it yet I couldn’t recall the gist. At first, I thought because I read the book a while ago and couldn’t remember. Yet for book I read recently, I also didn’t remember much. Why not? Did I not pay attention? Was the book not resonate with me? or did I not have good memory?

After reading How the Brain Decides What to Remember | WIRED  , I think 2 things I/ we could do to enhance our brain powers:
(1) sleep earlier: 11pm-2am is the best time for our body to rest and repair
(2) simplify/ focus: I like to read 3-4 books at once and listen to audio book while walking. I’m likely overload my brain with too many things. It’s confused and at times stressed, and can’t determine what is important to tag, absorb and remember.

I will read one book at a time and reflect. I will stop listening to book while walking and let my brain go wherever it’d like to be.
