What Is Your Superpower?

Several months ago, a good friend asked me, “What’s your superpower?”

I couldn’t answer.

I love learning and trying new things. I make friends wherever I go, and people often call me a connector. But those feel more like interests than superpowers.

Over the years, I’ve worked across products, marketing, strategy, operations, user research, and community collaboration in different industries. I’m a continuous learner rather than an expert.

At first, I felt bad about myself—how could I not answer such a simple question? Worse, I felt like a failure. While others confidently say, “I’m an expert in X or Y,” I wondered, “What have I accomplished?”

That feeling of not being enough haunted me.

Eventually, I told myself, “It’s OK. Maybe I don’t have a superpower, but I can support others to realize their dreams.” That thought gave me peace.

Then I came across a story about 洪新富 (Hsin-Fu Hung), a paper art master in Taiwan. He once said he’s “ like his paper art—nothing too special, just devoted a bit more heart than others.
就像他的紙藝一樣,沒有什麼太特別,只是比別人多一份心罷了。

Later, I read words by Mark Nepo that deeply resonated with me:

Exhale deeply and say softly to yourself: I will hold nothing back in my effort to live. I will not hesitate to be.

Perhaps the hardest thing I’ve learned—and still struggle with—is that I don’t have to be finished in order to be whole.

Then it clicked.
My superpower is simply being me — to get a little better every day and to work on making the world a little better every day.

I may never be a shiny star, but it will be a life worth living.

What about you?
What is your superpower?
What matters are you working on?
