Humanity

I received an email from an old colleague/ friend in China who asked how I am doing as she saw the news of Covid-19 outbreak in US. She said her husband and children went to WuHen (1st outbreak/ most seriously infected area) for Chinese New Year. The outbreak ‘grounded’ them there for 50 days and they just returned home. She wrote if I need mask, let her know, she will arrange carrier to send it. This almost brought tears in my eyes…

In contrast, on the news that some Chinese/ Asian people were attacked in TX and some politicians labeled the virus with country. When I went to the grocery stores, not only mask and sanitizer have been gone for weeks, I’m surprised even toilet paper and rice are out of stocks.

The uncertainty is understandable yet worry or finger-pointing doesn’t change the situation. Better instead, people got creative…e.g. my yoga studio offered virtual class, I attended an online Toastmaster meeting this weekend. I started to work from home this week and things went well, less distraction, saved commuting time, and better lunch. I worked in comfortable cloth and managed to talk a walk after lunch when the weather was good/ schedule permitted.

Covid-19 is a big change for all yet it also lets us see the humanity, think creatively about alternative, distinguish what’s truly important, and appreciate what/ who we have in life~
