I asked J who I worked with several years ago if she’d be interested in editing UncoverSpecial book. Now she has a full-time job yet she loves the idea of the book and said yes right away. A few days later, she emailed me a few questions, e.g. Do I plan to have chapters of writings with similar themes, what’s my motivation to write the book, and what’s the takeaway for the audience and did 2 ‘testing’ edits asking my thoughts.
Themed segment is great idea, so does the other 2 questions that I need to re-write ‘about’ for the blog to fit as a book intro to explain why, what, and how I wrote UncoverSpecial. I also need to write a closing, what I named ‘what’s next’ to encourage readers to not only spread the words, give feedback, but also celebrate the beauty, joy, inspiration, etc. in their lives and tell their stories.
This is the kind of editor/ partner I want, to go beyond the obvious (e.g. copy editing), think from the reader perspective, and encourage/ challenge me to be better. Even better, J genuinely cares for others and is skilled to be candid and pragmatic. Tks J!
