2 weeks ago, I got a text message from my manager, out of blue, asking to talk…strange, isn’t he traveling? And we have our weekly one-on-one in a few days…anyway I said yes. He quickly called me and…gave me the bad news.
Well, the tough financial situation wasn’t news and there had been several rounds of cuts. It’s also not surprising when it comes to number, shifting roles from higher to lower salaried countries would save money. What may be surprising (or not, more below) is that I’m leading/ working on 2 global initiatives and they are targeted to roll-out in 2 months. The good news is that both are in great shapes: One is done development, only final integration testing remaining and the other is more than half way through and the second part’s critical design/ team alignment are done. It’s possible to keep them going by a capable person. They will enable a new era to provide better user experience and outcomes for the customers, community partners, and teams. I’m excited for the potential and want people/ initiatives to succeed. No regret or hard feeling, I’ve learned a lot here and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together.
Rather than looking for another job, I want to take a different path forward…
I’ve generated over half a billion $ in revenue, built world first innovations, and saved million $ annually through improved productivity with 3 multinational companies and 3 startups across industries. In my free time, I’m an active volunteer, mentor, and strategist/ consultant for social entrepreneurs and non-profit leaders.
I want to support purpose-driven organizations and leaders to amplify the growth and impact, to make a smarter, healthier, and better world!
