Story-Telling

Through Toastmaster, I’ve enjoyed and learned to tell stories in speech and conversation. In the past 2 weeks, I’ve learned a different kind of story-telling, to craft a story for the entire presentation, beyond/ besides stories (examples) in the presentation. One way is to use a timeline then dive deeper into key milestones or topics. Another way is to start with a problem, followed by the desired outcomes then present the proposal or areas for discussion (why => what => how).

Both methods worked well at recent meetings. Thinking of presentation as crafting a story opens up new possibilities, plus it’s easier and more enjoyable for the audience to follow and participate. Who doesn’t like a compelling story?
